As an elementary band director of 16+ years I have learned the ranges and abilities of students in their first few years of instruction. I am currently the elementary instrumental specialist of the Plymouth school district in Plymouth/Terryville, CT (Terryville is actually part of Plymouth but because the high school is Terryville High School, that is the section of town that people recognize more readily.) I write mostly for the basic instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Bells (glockenspiel), snare drum and bass drum.
